To apply an alligator patch, asphalt maintenance crews must clean out the cracks as much as is reasonable. Then the Gator Patch must be mixed according to the instructions. Teams then use squeegees to get a flush patch for the repair.
Once applied, this alligator patch sets up almost immediately. In many cases, the area can reopen within two to four hours to light traffic while the patch continues to cure. The complete curing process typically requires 50-degree temperatures and no precipitation for 48 hours.
