The 12" DRIVE stencil is a commonly used stencil in the industry that offers versatility and usefulness for any type of projects. New and old contractors alike will want to add this stencil to their collections as it is easy to apply, easy to clean, and easy to transport. This stencil is often paired with the word “THRU" to indicate a drive through lane or a through street. The word is bold against the pavement and can be easily seen by oncoming drivers and pedestrians alike. It is an invaluable sign for any Federally approved project where a street needs clear indication for the flow of traffic. There are four stencil grade options available for the make of this stencil. For the most durable make, invest in the .080 ALU. This is a rigid 5052 aluminum that will last forever and can withstand preformed thermoplastic striping. Another durable option is the ?" PRO-Grade LDPE, which is a durable and affordable grade. This is the most commonly used material in the industry, offering thousands of uses over several years without showing any signs of wear. The 1/16" LDPE is its counterpart, which offers the same durability but with half the thickness. This added flexibility is good for infrequent or custom jobs. Finally, the .030" HIPS is the thinnest grade available. This flexible material is custom fitted for a one-time or delicate job, and is affordable for light-duty projects.
The measurements and specifications of these stencils comply with industry standards and are designed to fit in most small and publicly accessible lanes. The printed stencil measures 43" in width and 12" in height when printed, and adds a stroke width of 2" between the letters for added clarity from a distance. The material itself measures 49" in width by 18" in height, adding a few extra inches on all sides to allow for overspray.
